Sexual Assaults
Sexual assault is any non-consensual sexual touching, ranging from unwanted physical touch to more serious allegations such as rape. These charges are complex and carry serious legal and personal consequences, making a careful, comprehensive defence essential from the outset.

Your Criminal Defense Roadmap
Our Typical Process
We typically follow a 5 step process for Sexual Assault Charges, as outlined below.
Step 1
Address Release Order Conditions
Immediately review and address any conditions imposed on your release order.
Step 2
Request Disclosure & Evidence
Promptly request disclosure (i.e. evidence) from the designated Crown’s office.
Step 3
Review Disclosure & Defences
Review disclosure together to determine any legal defences and finalize how you want to proceed with the case. A sexual assault case may also require a careful consideration of pre-trial applications to use text messages and/or to obtain private records.
Step 4
Meet With Prosecutor
Schedule a meeting with the prosecutor to discuss resolution or trial.
Step 5
Trial or Resolution
Set the trial date(s) or the resolution date.
Our Criminal Defense Approach
How We Defend
No matter what you’re charged with, the way we defend your case always comes back to our core three principles: active listening, meticulous preparation, and relentless advocacy.
Understanding Your Story
We start by understanding your side of the story in full — the context, the relationship dynamics, and what’s really at stake for you — so your defence is built on facts, not assumptions.
Examining Evidence
We closely examine the evidence, disclosure, and police conduct to identify weaknesses, inconsistencies, and Charter issues that can be leveraged in your favour.
Pursuing All Lawful Avenues
From bail variations to resolution or trial, we push back against overbroad conditions and pursue every lawful avenue to protect your rights, your family, and your future.
Protecting Your Legal Rights
Early Representation Matters.
You don’t know what you don’t know. Having a lawyer from the jump will ensure you are fully informed of your rights and are prepared for any twists and turns that may arise throughout your matter.
Protecting Your Rights from the Start
Early representation helps prevent damaging missteps and ensures your Charter and procedural rights are safeguarded from the moment you are arrested and charged.
Planning for Key Pre-Trial Applications
A lawyer can quickly assess whether special applications are strategically necessary, which can significantly affect what evidence is admissible at trial.
Strategic Case Direction
Prompt advocacy allows the defence to shape bail conditions, evidentiary scope, and the overall trajectory of the case, often making the difference between a constrained defence and a fair opportunity to respond to the allegations.
